Film Maker Research

These content creators have given me some inspiration as are making similar content to what how I want to make my video, Poke Daxi's master class video about shadow pokemon gave me the inspiration to do a step by step guild in how to play pokemon go.

Poké Daxi

most of this video has the subject  facing towards the camera, the type of shot that has been used is a medium close up as you can see his shoulders.

This video goes through shadow/purified Pokémon in depth, it goes on to show some of the strongest Pokémon in Pokémon go, he also demonstrates why shadow Pokémon are so powerful with plenty of quick cutscenes, i personally like this because if the scenery was the same through out the video, i would lose interest quickly and i am more likely to not understand what he is talking about, but with the cutscenes, i am able to understand what his video topic is about.

Through this video I learned much about shadow pokemon, they are creatures who have -20% defence, to compensate for that stat decrease the attack has been risen by 20%, which makes shadow pokemon a glass cannon compared to a normal pokemon, they also take more stardust and candy to level up.

Purified pokemon loses that attack buff/defence cut, and upgrades to a level 25 (if the level is below 25), they also have a reduction of stardust/candy to level up as well.

Some shadow pokemon should be purified like Zubat, Starly and Sableye, but others like Larvitar, Beldum, Bulbasaur, Cynterquil, Bagon and Mudkip because they do benefit from that attack buff, apart from the legendaries and mega pokemon, shadow pokemon are the most powerful creatures in the game, it will just take take a bit more time and investment than usual.

The Trainer Club

This video goes through some of the best gym defending pokemon, with the first two being the most bulky, after that pokemon that are mentioned have very high attack or are a general nuisance to get out of a gym because of their high defence and not very many weaknesses.

Pokemon in this sense are called stone walls, because of their high defence/HP (Health Points).

Some of the best gym defenders are chancy, blissey, snorlax, wobbuffet, Metagross, togakiss and dragonite.

This video is an instructional video in which the subject explains how to best defend a gym in pokemon go. He is out on location, as the video was filmed in the suburbs with the background having both trees and buildings. This video will help me to produce my FMP because one of the videos that I will be creating covers similar content.

The video above gives me ideas for things to discuss, as well as creative methods I could use when editing my video in Premier Pro and After Effects. For example, the subject uses a medium close up shot to film himself, a technique which I could consider using in my own project. The video also had an animated introduction using simple techniques to create a good effect. I intend on doing the same in my project.

In my opinion, this video was very helpful in the pursuit of my final major project because i found out a lot about what pokemon to leave at gyms and also what their moves should be for the maximum effectiveness against attacking pokemon, if i was be critical about the video and improve it, i would show of how effective pokemon are gyms, for an example I would show how much bulk a chancy or Blissey have by attacking a local gym with those pokemon in there.

This video has inspired me to create something informative and entertaining. The gym video has helped me understand why certain pokemon have been included and some of their moves, which I believe will help me to create a quality, well researched and informed FMP.
