Reflection
Week 1
for that week I started to get ideas down for an example, I thought of doing a farm animal documentary that would go with the advantages and disadvantages of eating animals and wether you should go vegetarian/vegan or not.
Another one of my ideas was to create another music video as I wouldn't have to worry about the audio, as it was already created already, but unfortunately i couldn't find a music video that I felt inspired to copy, I could have done another music video intro to a show, but I have already done a long remake of the Doc Martin Intro in one of my previous projects and I struggled to research the creator of that particular doc martin music piece.
I also came up with an argumentative documentary about dogs, titled: "Dogs, are they Man's Best Friend or are they Man's Worst Enemy; the documentary would go through the advantages and disadvantages of keeping a dog, that includes well trained dog as a pet, therapy animals, guild dogs and working animals for the good side and; poorly trained dogs, dog attacks/bites/aggression, passing diseases to humans and mutated dogs (pugs, bull terriers, english bulldogs, dachshunds and basset hound), for bad.
But there is a big problem with the documentaries' topic, it would be very controversial due to the fact that on average 33% of house holds have dogs in it and further more most people absolutely love dogs and many of them are very set in their way, anything bad about dogs they will shut off instantly or hate the documentary instantly, so to show them a documentary about the positive and negative points about dogs will just put them off watching the video and the ones who do watch it will give it a lot of hate and wont give the documentary a chance to show all of its points.
So I eventually settled with: "a guide to Pokemon go" which was much less controversial, it was something that I was passionate about, i felt inspired by the youtube content creators who-made pokemon go videos and I knew a lot about the games mechanics, and a bit of history.
So I decided to stick with Pokemon go, I also chose pokemon go as my topic to prove to my family that the game wasn't useless at all, as my grandparents kept saying that it was one of those useless games.
Week 2
For that week I started to research about the game more in depth, I had to overcome a couple of challenges while doing so: I had to overcome the college's blocking system, this is because I attempted to go on bulbapedia (its a popular website to look up things about pokemon go) and i got blocked, so that meant that I couldn't go on certain websites but luckily to get round it, I did most of my research at home where I couldn't be blocked.
The second challenge was to find and analyse a couple of content creator's videos, so I managed to find a video dedicated to shadow pokemon and to gym pokemon, both videos were made by different content creators, I analysed the background of each video and what type of shot the subjects were (it turned out that both had the same shot, it was medium close up) and I showed my opinion as well.
If I had much more time, I would have thought about and written my points in as much more detail, I am very slow at writing, and it takes my a long time to fully know what I am saying.
During this time as well I started to create a Presentation Pitch about my idea topic of Pokemon go.
Week 3
For that week I did my pre-production work, I downloaded the templates and then one by one finished them.
I also presented the pokemon go Idea through a Presentation Pitch to Paul, who gave the green light for me to start working on my Preproduction, I wish though I didn't pause so awkwardly during the presentation, I also needed for next time to simplify the work as I struggled to speak.
Week 4
For this week, I decided to start getting content for my videos, so I decided to get some help from one of my class mates Alex, he recorded me waling into a tree and a post for one of my videos, but before recording me we needed to learn how to use a phone gimbal and what its purpose is (its purpose is to reduce camera shake by about 90%, making a walking video look smooth instead and less distracting to the viewer), you can find a bit more information of the side projects tab.
In return for Alex i recorded my voice for part of his video, he wanted me to read a few simple lines from his script and then I was responsible for starting and stopping adobe after effects, for his own voice clips, this took about an hour same my Alex recording me
on my way home from college I one day that week, I recorded my game content that was about 2 hours long, during that time, i tried to cover as many things I could before my phone crashed.
To capture my the game content, I used VIDma Recorder Lite, I managed to get rid of the Promotional Sticker by watching an advert.
Also I was working on my big script that took until week 6 to complete during that time I managed to complete Poke-stops and gyms: getting Items and Poke-stops and gyms: a closer look at them, the Poke-stops and gyms: a closer look at them, script was very long, so it took me quite some time to finish.
Week 5
For this week I started to record a voice over by using an H1N Handy Sound Recorder, but I didn't like the sound of my own voice, so I got Alice (The teaching assistant on Mondays) to be a voice actor, she managed to do that role so well, of course there were a few errors, but compared to me I would have really struggled as I would have made many more errors as I struggle to read aloud.
So a very big thank you to her for helping me with the voice overs because I wouldn't have been able to have done it myself.
During the week as well I carried on with my script, completing Friends and Buddies as well as Pokemon summery, I personally thought though for my script that friends and buddies would be the shortest part of the script but it turned out to be as big as the Getting items part.
Week 6
For this week I carried on to with the voice over, for my videos, but there was a big problem and that was the script, it was way too long, so we only managed to record 3 out of 7 videos, so I worked with what I had and made the three videos that can be found in the tab "Product".
While making the videos, I also had to grab pictures from the internet to help viewers know what thing was listed and what they look like, to get those pictures, I downloaded them and had to edit most of the pictures in Adobe photoshop in order for them to have a transparent background.
This was the week I finished my long script with the remaining topics of Team rocket/shadow pokemon and the Item bag/unmentioned items.
Week 7
For that week I Made a promotional trailer that is about 1 minute long, but i did talk with Paul about Making some posters and a few things about presenting it on a social media platform, but in the end we agreed that I would make a trailer, as Alice was not available to do a voice over and also there wasn't much time left , I went online and found a royalty free music piece that was Pokemon related.
I selected the music from this website: https://soundlibrary.pokemon.co.jp/en
